X-ray of a woman's foot in high heels...

X-ray of a woman's foot in high heels...

A study was published in the Journal of Experimental Biology that was done on a group 80 women who wore high heels.
It was observed that women who wore heels 2 inch to 3.5 inch for about 60 hrs in a week experienced pain in their calf.
Also, the sonograms of these women showed that their achilles tendons were stiffer and thicker and calf muscles were shorter.
The x-ray picture above clearly states the type of pressure being put on bones when one wears high heels. So it is not surprising that it puts a risk of bone degeneration and osteoarthritis on women.

A lot of women complain that they cannot walk in flats after they have used heels for a long time.
A reason being that the bones in your body are adjusting to the heels and are physically changing.
When you walk in stilettos, your body is inclined forward causing pressure on your knee.
Also, prolonged use of heels causes the bone on the heel to enlarge also known as Haglund’s deformity which is due to straps or rigid soles of pumps.
It has been predicted that an inch heel causes upto 22% pressure on the bones in the leg and can go unto 76% in case of a 3-inch heel.

Its impractical to ask women to not wear heels Instead, Podiatrists suggest to limit the time of wearing heels and doing some foot exercises will help reduce the pressure.
Keep this in mind, the next time you wear heels "2 lines of knowledge can make u more attractive than 2 inches of heel".
